You Name It was founded in 1994 by Denise Gaskill and
Le Ann Carlson. In the beginning, our primary focus was on personalized kids gifts and
mother's bracelets. We started out at a craft fair at Antioch Shopping Center in Kansas City,
Missouri, and eventually began participating in Jr. League shows across the mid west. What
started out as just a "fun little business" grew into something much more. Now,
8 years later, we are still growing strong. In 2001, our company introduced our newest product:
Lauren's Hope For A Cure Medical ID Bracelets. Because of the tremendous response and national
exposure it became necessary to change the name of our company to Laurens Hope.
The bracelets have received tremendous support from Diabetes Educators and patients across the
United States. They have been seen at many national conventions such as The Children with Diabetes
conference in Orlando, Florida and the National Diabetes Educators conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
Because we believe in our product, and the need to find a cure for Diabetes, Laurens Hope is
proud to donate a portion of our profit on the medical ID bracelets to The Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation. To date, Lauren's Hope has donated over $75,000.
Who Is Lauren?
Lauren Philips is an active 16 year old. She also has diabetes. Unfortunately,
like many diabetes patients her age, she refused to wear a potentially life-saving ID
bracelet. Why? Because "it's ugly and it draws attention to my illness." Lauren's
mom realized the potential danger Lauren could be in with out her tag. So, she asked us to
design Lauren a new stylish bracelet she would feel comfortable wearing. The rest is
history!
With Lauren's help, we designed several bracelets. Now, instead of wearing a plain
medical bracelet that announces her illness, Lauren is wearing a fashion forward bracelet
that combines multi-colored crystals, sterling silver beads and an unobtrusive emergency
ID tag. Now, her wrist jewelry doesn't make her look different from any of her friends.
Lauren has been a true inspiration to us. We named the bracelets "Lauren's Hope For
A Cure" because we hope that some day there will be a cure for Diabetes. Therefore, we
are donating a portion of our profit to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Thanks
Lauren!
