Medical ID Alerts for Kids with Special Needs

We would like to introduce you to a remarkable little girl named Symphony. In August 2006, when Symphony was just three months old, she was diagnosed with SBS (Shaken Baby Syndrome). Symphony’s mother, Gretchen, writes:

special needs alert bracelets“When I found out that my daughter had been a victim of child abuse, the feeling was surreal.

I was in shock and I felt like I was in the middle of a nightmare. I wanted someone to wake me up.”

From that moment on, their lives had changed forever. Symphony, and children like her, have a wide-range of medical conditions as a result of SBS and she wears a medical alert ID daily in the event of an emergency. Symphony is in a wheelchair and she attends therapy sessions five to six times per week, which include physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Doctors that are visited regularly include pediatric, neurology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, and orthopedics.

Despite some grim predictions, Symphony has thrived.

“I was told by medical professionals that my daughter would never walk, talk, or eat on her own. With the help of therapies and amazing doctors, Symphony can now take a few steps with an assistive device called a Kaye walker, she talks and talks and TALKS, and she eats.”

With a birthday coming up, Symphony is ready to celebrate!

Gretchen says, “She’s so ‘girly girl’, and she loves her Lauren’s Hope medical ID jewelry.” We wish Symphony another year of success and growth. She is truly a miracle!
