ADD and ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) are neurobiological disorders. According to the National Resource Center on AD/HD, “Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition affecting children and adults that is characterized by problems with attention, impulsivity, and overactivity. It affects between 5-8 percent of school age children, and between 2-4 percent of adults.”

These disorders are common and typically manageable for children and adults with the right interventions. Behavioral therapy and medication are the most common forms of treatment.

AN ADD/ADHD MEDICAL ID CAN OFFER DAILY PROTECTION
If your child has ADD/ADHD, a medical ID bracelet may not seem necessary. However, if your child is on medication for ADD/ADHD, this is information First Responders and hospital personnel need to know in order to avoid drug interactions or to provide necessary medication. Additionally, in an accident or emergency, or if s/he becomes lost, your child may not be able to recite his or her phone number, parents’ names, emergency contact numbers, current medications, known allergies, or other pertinent information.

When selecting medical ID jewelry for kids, keep in mind that some children with ADD/ADHD tend to fidget more than average. Providing appropriate items with which your child can fidget in class or other social settings is often helpful, but his or her medical ID should not be used as a fidget. Try out necklaces and bracelets on your child and see which s/he is more or less prone to playing with before you order. Some children do better with medical ID necklaces, such as our custom dog tags, which kids think are cool, and which can be tucked inside a shirt and forgotten about so they do not cause a distraction to your child during class. If your child has ADD or ADHD, it’s important for him or her to wear medical ID jewelry.

We recommend listing your child’s name, diagnosis(es), any medications, all allergies, and emergency contact numbers.

What type of medical ID is right for me?

Our custom-engravable medical ID jewelry is just that: custom engravable. That means you can choose whatever style you like because the same Lauren’s Hope medical ID will work for any condition.
  • Interchangeable medical ID bracelets

An interchangeable medical ID is composed of a bracelet strand with a lobster clasp at either end and a removable medical ID tag. You can purchase multiple strands and continue using the same medical ID tag. If your personal information changes, you can simply replace the custom-engraved medical ID tag.
  • Non-interchangeable medical ids

Non-interchangeable or traditional medical IDs have affixed medical ID tags for an all-in-one solution.
  • MEDICAL ID CUFFS

Pull gently to open, put it on, and squeeze tighter for the right fit every time. Cuffs are an excellent option for people who experience swelling of the extremities, those with dexterity challenges, and those who have had weight loss surgery and are looking for the ultimate in adjustability.
  • MEDICAL ID necklaces

While some people simply prefer medical ID necklaces to bracelets, others choose necklaces because they cannot wear bracelets in the workplace. In any case, EMTs and other first responders are trained to check neck and both wrists for the internationally recognized medical symbol.
