What should I engrave on my medical ID tag? First and Last Name Medical Condition Allergies Emergency Contact Number #1 Emergency Contact Number #2
Tips and Hints -Remember, in a true medical emergency, if you are unable to communicate your medical ID tag can be your life saver. Your medical ID tag is there to communicate your medical needs if you can't. So be sure to engrave the information that will be the most helpful to the medical professionals who are the 1st to arrive at the scene.
-If you include medication names on your engraving, be sure to indicate wether or not you are taking the medication or you are allergic to the medication. For example, "ON SULFA vs. SULFA ALLERGY"
-Unless you are listing several numbers for the same person you do not need to indicate that it is a cell or work number. It is best to abbreviate (C) for cell phone, (w) for work, (H) home and (DR) for your physician.
-A smaller amount of text on a line will result in larger text on the engraved medical ID tag.
-The medical ID tag will be easier to read if the lines are evenly spaced.
-When listing allergies say “peanut allergy” instead of “allergy to peanuts” - it takes up less space. Here are some examples:
RANDY SMITH DIABETES TYPE I INSULIN DEPENDENT (OR INSULIN PUMP) 816-555-5555 DR.

How do I know what size of bracelet to order?
Take a measuring tape and measure your wrist at its smallest point. Take a true wrist measurement-not too tight or too loose. Then, add 1 inch to that measurement. Lauren's Hope medical ID bracelets do NOT fit like the average bracelet. Remember, the medical ID tag does not bend. So, you will need to add an inch to your wrist measurement. (This only applies to the beaded bracelets) Be sure to measure carefully as there is a $6 return shipping and handling fee.

Can I wear my bracelet in the shower or while swimming?
Although most of our bracelets are made out of 14K gold filled and sterling silver beads, it is still strung on jewelry wire. Therefore, it is NOT recommended that you wear it while swimming or showering.
However, the adjustable band bracelets are waterproof and machine washable. The dog tags, leather and cotton bracelets may also be worn while showering and swimming. However, the leather and cotton bracelets may show more wear if done so.
Good Ideas for Young Children
The smallest size we make in the beaded medical ID bracelets is 6 inches and that fits a 5 inch wrist, they are not recommended for younger children because they pose a choking hazard and because the ID tag is too large for their wrists. If the child’s wrist is smaller than 5 inches they are probably too young to wear beaded bracelets.
We have an adjustable band medical ID bracelet line that is perfect for children. They are durable, washable, waterproof, adjustable and inexpensive. They can even strap around the child’s ankle instead of the wrist. Be sure and check them out.
