Cerebral palsy (CP) is a complex set of disorders that impact the brain and nervous system and can cause challenges to movement, cognitive function, vision, learning, and hearing. Cerebral palsy can present in various levels of severity, and in various forms: ataxic, dyskinetic, hypotonic, spastic, and mixed. Some with CP are non-ambulatory while others walk with braces or other assistive equipment. Some people with CP are verbal, and others are not. Cerebral palsy is caused by brain abnormalities or injuries. Most incidences of CP result from issues developed during gestation or birth, but CP can actually develop in infancy up until age two. These later onsets of CP result from brain bleeds, brain infections, head injuries, unusually severe jaundice, etc.

A CEREBRAL PALSY MEDICAL ID OFFERS DAILY PROTECTION

Cerebral palsy is a chronic condition, and as such, it is a diagnosis about which emergency personnel need to know immediately in the event of an accident or injury. Letting EMTs and emergency room physicians know that being nonverbal or non-ambulatory is a patient’s baseline is incredibly helpful as they begin assessments and treatments.

If you or someone you love has cerebral palsy, wearing medical ID jewelry is imperative. We recommend listing your name, diagnosis(es), any medications, all allergies, and emergency contact numbers. Here are some examples of what to engrave on your Cerebral Palsy medical ID jewelry:

What type of medical ID is right for me?

Our custom-engravable medical ID jewelry is just that: custom engravable. That means you can choose whatever style you like because the same Lauren’s Hope medical ID will work for any condition.
  • Interchangeable medical ID bracelets

An interchangeable medical ID is composed of a bracelet strand with a lobster clasp at either end and a removable medical ID tag. You can purchase multiple strands and continue using the same medical ID tag. If your personal information changes, you can simply replace the custom-engraved medical ID tag.
  • Non-interchangeable medical ids

Non-interchangeable or traditional medical IDs have affixed medical ID tags for an all-in-one solution.
  • MEDICAL ID CUFFS

Pull gently to open, put it on, and squeeze tighter for the right fit every time. Cuffs are an excellent option for people who experience swelling of the extremities, those with dexterity challenges, and those who have had weight loss surgery and are looking for the ultimate in adjustability.
  • MEDICAL ID necklaces

While some people simply prefer medical ID necklaces to bracelets, others choose necklaces because they cannot wear bracelets in the workplace. In any case, EMTs and other first responders are trained to check neck and both wrists for the internationally recognized medical symbol.
