What should I engrave on my medical ID?

It is important to engrave the pertinent information that would be helpful to an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or other first responder in the event that you are unable to communicate for yourself.

We recommend you engrave:
Your First and Last Name
Medical Condition(s)
Treatment Considerations
Food and Drug Allergies
Emergency Contact Number with area code

  • When listing a medication, be sure to indicate whether you are taking this medication or are allergic to it. EG: ON STEROIDS vs STEROID ALLERGY
  • ICE is recognized as an abbreviation for “In Case of Emergency” and is commonly listed before your emergency phone number instead of a name.

How do I abbreviate my engraving?

Can I add or edit info on my engraved jewelry?

Once engraved, we cannot edit information on an engraved piece of jewelry. Engraving is a permanent process that cannot be edited.

Can I add Premium Laser Engraving to my previously engraved jewelry?

Standard Etched and Premium Laser Engraving are done on separate types of machines. Therefore, laser engraving cannot be added after an item has been etch engraved.

Can an engraved piece of jewelry be returned or exchanged?

No, once an item has been engraved, it cannot be returned or exchanged.

Sizing & Resizing

How do I measure for my bracelet?

Using a soft measuring tape (dressmaker’s tape), take a snug measurement of your wrist starting at the 0.

Don’t have a soft measuring tape? In a pinch, you can use a piece of string or even dental floss, wrap that around your wrist, and then lay it against a flat ruler to determine your wrist size.

What size should I order?

We’ll custom size your bracelet for a fit that’s not too tight or too loose.

  • Snugly measure your wrist.
  • Select your wrist size from the dropdown menu.
  • We’ll add the appropriate length to create a comfortable fit.
If you’re ordering an interchangeable style, you will need to follow these steps whether you need a bracelet with a tag OR the bracelet portion only.

My bracelet doesn't fit. Can it be resized?

Absolutely.

  • Resizing in the first six months: First resize is $7.50 for domestic orders, $20 for international orders. This fee covers shipping and handling.
  • Resizing after first six months (or any time after first resizing): $15 per bracelet, plus shipping and handling for a total of $22.50 for domestic orders, $35 for international orders.

How do I send a bracelet in to be resized?

1. If your medical ID tag is removable, take it off and send the bracelet strand only. If the tag is affixed, do not try to remove it.

2. Print and complete the Service Request Form and enclose it in a PADDED MAILER with your Lauren's Hope product. Do not send product in a letter envelope. There is a chance the product could fall out or be damaged in the mail if it is not in a padded mailer.

PLEASE NOTE: Lauren's Hope is not responsible for lost or damaged incoming shipments; we encourage you to properly pack, track, and insure your package.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We also accept money orders.

Do you accept flexible spending account (FSA) cards?

Yes, Lauren’s Hope Medical ID Jewelry is pleased to accept FSA and HSA debit cards for your convenience. Have an FSA or HSA account without an associated debit card? No problem. When you order your medical ID with Lauren’s Hope, we will enclose an itemized receipt with your purchase, which you can send to your account manager for reimbursement consideration.

Repairs & Warranty

Can I exchange my product for a different item?

Like new, unengraved items can be exchanged within 30 days of purchase. Engraved items are not eligible for exchange. Please allow up to five (5) business days for your exchange or return to be processed and any credits to be issued to your credit card provider.

Does my jewelry have a warranty?

We warranty all of our products for six months against manufacturer defects and breakage. If your Lauren’s Hope product breaks within six months, we will repair and if necessary, replace it free of charge. Please follow these instructions for packing and mailing your item. Thereafter, we offer repair services on eligible products for $22.50 for domestic and $35 for international orders. Some products have extended warranty terms; please see below.

Breakage:
Our bracelets and necklaces are warranteed against breakage for six months from the date of original purchase. This covers beads, jewelry wire, stranding materials (leather, paracord, stainless steel, etc.), clasps, links, rings, magnetic closures, necklaces, moving parts, and other bracelet and necklace hardware. If these items fail within the first six months, we will repair or replace your item free of charge.

After the first six months, if your bracelet or necklace breaks, we offer repair services for $15 plus $7.50 s/h ($20 International s/h). Please note that if we no longer carry your specific design of beaded bracelet, we may repair your bracelet using similar parts.

Limited Coverage Items:

  • The medical caduceus symbol and any inlay on your medical ID tag are conditionally warranteed for one year. If these elements fail, we will replace your medical ID tag at no charge, once within the first year from the original date of purchase.
  • Scratches, dents, and other normal wear and tear are not covered under our warranty.
  • We do not warranty our products against loss or theft.

My bracelet is broken. Can you repair it?

We are happy to offer repair services for as long as you own your Lauren’s Hope bracelet. Our bracelets and necklaces are warranteed against breakage for six months from the date of original purchase. This covers beads, jewelry wire, stranding materials (leather, paracord, stainless steel, etc.), clasps, links, rings, magnetic closures, necklaces, moving parts, and other bracelet and necklace hardware. If these items fail within the first six months, we will repair or replace your item free of charge.

  • Repairs in the first six months: No charge
  • Repairs after first six months: $22.50 for domestic, $35 for international orders ($15 per bracelet plus shipping and handling).

Can I return a product for a refund?

Can I wear my bracelet in the shower or while swimming?

Lauren’s Hope carries medical ID jewelry in a variety of styles and materials, some of which are more water-friendly than others.

All of our jewelry is appropriate for hand-washing and showering, although sterling silver is less prone to tarnish when kept dry.

Beaded, sterling, and macrame (cotton and leather) bracelets are not appropriate for wear in pools and hot tubs. For this type of water wear, we highly recommend stainless steel, paracord, and silicone medical ID jewelry.

Which medical ID is right for me?

It’s important to note that every custom-engravable medical ID is just that: custom engravable. That means the same Lauren’s Hope medical ID will work whether you need a medical ID for diabetes, lymphedema, gastric bypass, or any other condition.

95% of first responders report they check the neck and both wrists of unresponsive patients, so despite the type of medical ID you choose, in an emergency, your medical ID may advocate for you.

Interchangeable medical ID bracelets: When you opt for an interchangeable medical ID, you’re purchasing a bracelet strand with lobster clasps at both ends and a removable medical ID tag. You can purchase multiple strands and continue using the same medical ID tag. If any of your personal information changes, you can simply replace the custom-engraved medical ID tag.

Traditional medical ID bracelets: Non-interchangeable or traditional medical IDs have affixed medical ID tags for an all-in-one solution.

Medical ID Cuffs: Cuffs are extremely easy to wear. Pull gently to open, put it on, and squeeze tighter for just the right fit every time. Cuffs are an excellent option for people who experience swelling of the extremities, those with dexterity challenges, and those who have had bariatric surgery and are looking for the ultimate in adjustability.

Medical ID necklaces and custom-engravable dog tags: Sometimes, people simply prefer medical ID necklaces to bracelets. Other times, people choose necklaces because they cannot wear bracelets in the workplace.

Why do I need a medical ID?

Over 60 million Americans have a medical condition which should be immediately known by first responders in the event of an emergency. EMT and first responders are trained to look for a medical alert. Medical identification alerts first responders to your vital medical information as well as your name and emergency contact information. With proper medical identification, a first responder may be made aware of your condition, providing the information that may assist them in treating you properly.

If you are a caregiver, then you should also wear a medical ID to alert emergency personnel of your loved one who needs attention. Let your medical identification jewelry speak for you when you can't.

Who is Lauren?

Lauren Philips is the company’s namesake. Lauren’s Hope was founded when Lauren, then 13, refused to wear an unattractive, traditional medical ID bracelet for her Type 1 Diabetes. Her mom reached out to a friend who made jewelry, asking for a pretty custom bracelet for Lauren, and the rest is history.

FastTrack

What is FastTrack?

When you select a FastTrack item, your entire order qualifies for expedited handling, not only the FastTrack item. This means that your medical ID jewelry will be on its way to you even faster, shipping the same or next business day.

We ship Monday through Friday. FastTrack orders placed before 10am Central will ship the same business day. FastTrack orders placed after 10am Central will ship the next business day, which is Monday for orders placed Saturday, Sunday, holidays, and Fridays after 10.

With FastTrack, you still have the option of our various shipping methods, such as USPS First Class, USPS Priority, FedEx Two-Day, and FedEx Overnight, so you can have your IDs even faster.
