  • How do I choose the right product for my needs?

Choosing the right medical ID can be a bit overwhelming with so many great choices. We find that it helps to think through a few basics:

    1. Do you need something water resistant, or will you take your medical ID off in the water? If you'll be leaving it on, consider stainless steel or silicone.
    2. Are you used to wearing bracelets but not necklaces, or vice versa? People tend to get in the habit of wearing medical ID jewelry more easily when they wear jewelry that feels comfortable and familiar.
    3. Do you have dexterity, swelling, pain, or other issues that impact the type of jewelry you can put on and wear? Consider a necklace or an adjustable medical ID bracelet. For a bracelet, adding rings to your tag, a magnetic closure, or a lobster extender can all help.

Taking these basics into account may help you choose the right medical ID. For a more extensive overview of choosing the right medical ID for your condition(s) and lifestyle, visit our “How To Choose The Right Medical ID” page here.

  • How do I measure for my Lauren’s Hope medical ID bracelet?

Your bracelet size is the end-to-end measurement of your medical ID bracelet, including the tag and rings if applicable. To measure for your Lauren’s Hope medical ID bracelet, please take a snug measurement of your wrist at the narrowest part, leaving no room between the measuring tape and your skin. For most of our products, we recommend adding one inch to your wrist measurement to determine your bracelet size. However, some bracelets require more or less, so it is important to check the product page for the item you are ordering to ensure that you order the right size. If you’re still not sure what size to order, please contact us at info@laurenshope.com or 1.800.360.8680.

  • Do Lauren’s Hope products have a warranty?

Yes. All Lauren’s Hope products are backed by a 6-month warranty, during which time we will repair your bracelet free of charge.

  • What does your warranty cover?

The Lauren’s Hope warranty is the best in the industry, covering your medical ID FREE for six months and with a nominal fee for the lifetime of your bracelet thereafter. Here are some specifics:

Broken items: If your bracelet or necklace breaks, we’ll fix it or replace it. It’s that simple. Lost a few beads or links in the process? No problem. We’ll replace them with the same or similar materials. If we do not have identical materials, we will contact you before making substitutions. Repair service is free within the first six months and subject to a $10 repair fee and $7.50 shipping and handling charge for the lifetime of your jewelry thereafter.

Please note that we do not cover loss or theft. If you lose your bracelet, medical ID tag, necklace, or pendant, we are not able to replace it under your warranty. However, should you find yourself in this situation, we encourage you to give our Customer Service team a call for personal assistance at 1.800.360.8680 between 8a and 4:30p Monday through Friday central time, or email us any time at info@laurenshope.com.

Accessories: Magnetic closures, charms, and similar items are bracelet accessories. If they break or become detached from your bracelet, we will reattach them. Please note that we do not cover loss of accessories. If you lose an accessory and would like to purchase a new one, we welcome you to send your bracelet in for a repair during which we will re-strand your bracelet and add on new accessories according to your instructions. In either instance, this service is free within the first six months (you pay only for the replacement items) and subject to a $10 repair fee and $7.50 shipping and handling charge, in addition to the cost of the replacement accessory, for the lifetime of your bracelet thereafter.

Lobster clasps and jewelry wire: Although we use the highest quality materials, after extended daily wear, you may need a little “tune up.” Not to worry! If your bracelet needs a little cleanup, please send it in. We will re-strand it, replace the lobster clasps, and replace any damaged beads to have your bracelet looking and wearing like new! This repair service is free within the first six months and subject to a $10 repair fee and $7.50 shipping and handling charge for the lifetime of your jewelry thereafter.

MyID products: If you have purchased a Tech ID / MyID product from Lauren’s Hope, it is covered by MyID. Their customer service is reachable at 1.888.500.9720.

Willful damage and chemical exposure: Subjecting your medical ID jewelry to willful damage and/or exposing it to chemicals will void your warranty.

    • Your name
    • Mailing address
    • Daytime phone number
    • Email address
    • The issue you would like addressed
    • Your wrist measurement if applicable
    • A check for any applicable fees, made out to Lauren’s Hope; a note indicating that we should use your credit card on file; or instructions to call for a credit card payment by phone

    Ship to:

    Lauren’s Hope – ATTN: REPAIRS

  • What if I need a replacement bracelet strand?

If you already have an interchangeable Lauren’s Hope medical ID bracelet and you are ordering a strand only to be used with your existing Lauren’s Hope medical ID tag, simply order the size you would order if you were buying both a tag and a bracelet. That is, if your wrist measures 7”, and the instructions indicate that you should add 1” to your wrist size, order a size 8 bracelet. The system will automatically ask if you want a medical ID tag. If you tell it, “no,” it will ask what type of tag you currently have, and we will size your bracelet strand accordingly.

  • How do I measure for a replacement strand when using a tag with rings?

If you already have an interchangeable Lauren’s Hope medical ID bracelet and you are ordering a strand only to be used with your existing Lauren’s Hope medical ID tag with rings, simply order the size you would order if you were buying both a tag with rings and a bracelet.

  • Do I need to choose either a magnetic closure or rings for my tag?

No. Both magnetic closures and tag rings are optional accessories designed to help make putting on and taking off your bracelet easier. If you have dexterity, pain, swelling, or other issues impacting your hands and/or wrists, opting for rings or a magnetic closure can be of great benefit. Additionally, if you opt for these accessories, please choose one or the other, not both. However, if you do not need assistance with bracelet clasps, then there is no need to add these items.

We do not recommend rings or magnetic closures for bracelets size 6.5 or smaller. These bracelets are typically for children, and as there is generally an adult responsible for putting on a child’s bracelet, adding rings or magnets to their tags is unnecessary and results in a smaller bracelet strand with excess hardware.

  • Can I wear a magnetic closure or bracelet with magnets in it if I have a pacemaker?

No. Magnetic closures are not recommended for people with pacemakers. Additionally, a select few of our bracelet strands have embedded magnets. These bracelets are very clearly marked on the website, and they are not recommended for wear by people with pacemakers.

  • I have a rotary-engraved medical ID and would like to add color fill. How does that work?

Rotary engraving and color-fill engraving are separate processes done on different machines. While rotary-engraved products have their lettering physically carved into the metal, color-fill engraving is a laser burning process that creates black lettering on the metal. Unfortunately, it is therefore not possible to add color fill after an item has been rotary engraved.

  • I need to update my medical ID tag. Can I add information to my existing tag?

When we engrave your medical ID tag, we use the largest font size possible to make your tag as easy to read as it can be. Therefore, if you only use three lines of engraving, but your item has five lines available, the text on each line will be a bit larger than if you had used all five lines. This means that there will not be room left over to add information in the future. Additionally, once engraved, a tag cannot be edited or otherwise re-engraved.

  • Who is Lauren?

Lauren Philips is the company’s namesake. Lauren’s Hope was founded when Lauren, then 13, refused to wear an unattractive, traditional medical ID bracelet for her Type 1 Diabetes. Her mom reached out to a friend who made jewelry, asking for a pretty custom bracelet for Lauren, and the rest is history.

  • Why do I need a Medical ID?

Over 60 million Americans have a medical condition which should be immediately known by first responders in the event of an emergency. EMT and first responders are trained to look for a medical alert. Medical identification alerts first responders to your vital medical information as well as your name and emergency contact information. With proper medical identification, a first responder may be made aware of your condition, providing the information that may assist them in treating you properly.

If you are a caregiver, then you should also wear a medical ID to alert emergency personnel of your loved one who needs attention. Let your medical identification jewelry speak for you when you can't.

  • Who needs to wear a Medical ID?

  • Which medical ID is right for me?

It’s important to note that every custom-engravable medical ID is just that: custom engravable. That means the same Lauren’s Hope medical ID will work whether you need a medical ID for diabetes, lymphedema, or gastric bypass.

95% of first responders report they check the neck and both wrists of unresponsive patients, so despite the type of medical ID you choose, in an emergency, your medical ID may advocate for you.

Interchangeable medical ID bracelets: When you opt for an interchangeable medical ID, you’re purchasing a bracelet strand with lobster clasps at both ends and a removable medical ID tag. You can purchase multiple strands and continue using the same medical ID tag. If any of your personal information changes, you can simply replace the custom-engraved medical ID tag.

Traditional medical ID bracelets: Non-interchangeable or traditional medical IDs have affixed medical ID tags for an all-in-one solution.

Medical ID Cuffs: Cuffs are extremely easy to wear. Pull gently to open, put it on, and squeeze tighter for just the right fit every time. Cuffs are an excellent option for people who experience swelling of the extremities, those with dexterity challenges, and those who have had bariatric surgery and are looking for the ultimate in adjustability.

Medical ID necklaces and custom-engravable dog tags: Sometimes, people simply prefer medical ID necklaces to bracelets. Other times, people choose necklaces because they cannot wear bracelets in the workplace.

  • What should I engrave on my Medical ID?

Here is the basic information we recommend:

    Your First and Last Name
    Medical Condition(s)
    Food or Drug Allergies
Emergency Contact Number with area code
Emergency Contact Number with area code

  • Can I wear my bracelet in the shower or while swimming?

Although most of our bracelets are made out of 14K gold filled and sterling silver beads, it is still strung on jewelry wire. Therefore, it is NOT recommended that you wear it while swimming or showering.
